Pulling together to reach the final

When you’re literally sitting in the same boat and you have the right team spirit, no obstacle can stop you from reaching your goal: the WILD Bay team proved just that at this year’s dragon boat racing on lake Pirkdorf.

In an absolutely thrilling third run, the WILD Bay team delivered a moment of shock, almost sinking its outrigger. “But we combined our strengths and managed to stabilise it again and even finished first in this round”, said Eduard Nedelcu from WILD Invoicing [&] Logistics. The first race was equally bumpy, prompting the team to reorganise the seating order in the “20-man-and-woman boat”. The new setup was effective and carried the WILD Bay lifeguards to victory in the following three races. “You learn very quickly that individual performance matters much less than the coordination of all rowers. You can only reach a proper speed when all of them are rowing in unison”, explains Business Developer Wolfgang Stiegmaier.

In the end, everybody was more than happy to cross the finish line in fourth place. “Our team’s mood was positive at all times. I even believe we were the loudest team on lake Pirkdorf”, says Stiegmaier, praising the unity of WILD’s motley crew which was comprised of all the Group’s divisions.

The organisers also received a lot of praise for staging a mega event, now the sixth dragon boat race, which attracted 400 participants. The event featured everything from a palace tent and a children’s fun park with a giant Ferris wheel and Segways to a spectacular flyboard show. “We were just delighted with the positive atmosphere at the event. So we’ll definitely be taking part next year”, says team captain Robert Stuck from Assembly.
