What is your current job description?

I am currently employed as an Industrial Engineer and am responsible for transferring prototypes of medical devices to series production as part of the team. I act as an interface between the development department and assembly, so to speak.

How long have you been with WILD?

I’ve been with the company since 2004, but I took a break from education to study Biomedical Engineering at Graz University of Technology.

How have your tasks changed since you started working here?

I started at WILD as a mechatronics apprentice. After that, I worked for a long time as a skilled worker and group leader in assembly. Most recently, I managed teams of up to 20 people. I was also an apprentice representative, which I really enjoyed. Today, I am mainly involved in development.

What is exciting about your job?

Due to the complexity of the projects, no two days are the same. New technical challenges in the field of optomechatronics await you every day. That motivates me! I couldn’t imagine having a purely office-based job.

You completed your medical engineering degree at TU Graz in May 2023. Why was studying important to you?

I wanted to develop myself further and improve my promotion prospects within the company. Although a degree is not absolutely necessary for a career at WILD. If you do well, there are many opportunities even without a high school diploma or degree. However, I believe that a broad-based education broadens your career options.

How did WILD support you during your studies?

Although I was not employed by WILD as a full-time student, I worked for the company again and again during my studies in the form of holiday work or my final projects. Before that, when I attended evening classes at the HTL Mössingerstraße, specializing in computer engineering and network technology, the flexible working hours helped me a lot. Many of my fellow students at the time gave up after a short time because their working hours were not compatible with the teaching hours.

How would you describe WILD as an employer?

WILD is a high-tech company with exciting international customer projects in the fields of technical optics and medical technology. Great importance is attached to regular training and the further development of employees. But leisure activities are not neglected either. The extensive sports program that is offered is a perfect balance to everyday working life.

What is your most important balance to your job?

I regularly do sport in the form of calisthenics (full-body workouts). Fortunately, I live very close to Lake Wörthersee, so you can find me at one of the lidos almost every day after work in summer.
