What lies behind the apprenticeship professions of mechatronics, surface technology, metal technology, and painting technology? What career opportunities open up when choosing this path? WILD provided answers to these and many more questions to interested young people and their parents at the Career Exploration 2025 event.

A Fascination with High-Tech Solutions – recently, numerous participants explored WILD’s locations in Völkermarkt and Wernberg. Equipped with ESD-compliant clothing, the young visitors immersed themselves in the world of assembly. In Völkermarkt, they also had the chance to visit the manufacturing area. Metal technology apprentice Kenin and journeyman Benedikt, together with skilled professionals, guided them through various departments, including CNC milling, turning, painting, and assembly. Here, Franz and Patrick demonstrated the assembly of various products from the fields of medical technology and optical metrology to the young career explorers.

Hands-On Experience

Participants also discovered that WILD manufactures exciting products such as eye examination devices, a globally unique laser scanning microscope for the optical analysis of human skin, and cameras for aerial surveying. Another highlight was the personalized wallet production. At three stations, students tried out printing, thermal painting, and laser engraving before taking their custom-made wallets home. “In Wernberg, the 3D printing technology and the assembly of IVD systems sparked great interest,” reported Felix, who is responsible for prototype construction.

Career Opportunities at WILD

With practical insights and personal discussions, WILD supports young people from the very beginning in choosing the right career path. Aspiring apprentices can establish first contact with HR representatives at any time and get to know their dream apprenticeship through trial internships. This year, WILD in Völkermarkt is once again welcoming new apprentices in the fields of mechatronics, surface technology, metal technology, and painting technology. The apprenticeship starts on September 1. “Apply early and gather comprehensive information about your chosen apprenticeship. Interest and real motivation are key to successfully starting your training,” advises HR apprenticeship coordinator Claudia Reiterer.
