The medical technology industry offered a glimpse into the future at this year’s COMPAMED and MEDICA fairs. Medical product manufacturers, top companies like WILD and research institutes exhibited their latest products, technologies and concepts which are expected to have a lasting impact on the industry.

By exhibiting at COMPAMED 2018 under the motto “Photonic Technologies in Medical Technology”, the WILD Group perfectly covered its spectrum ranging from 50 years of experience in the area of photonic applications to innovative, future-oriented projects exploiting the unique properties of light. Light sources and optics are becoming increasingly smaller, faster and more compact. By linking these with other future technologies, WILD is capable of achieving true innovation leaps in the development and production of diagnostic devices, lasers for surgical applications, laboratory equipment for chemical analysis, IVD equipment and much more besides.

WILD demonstrated its entire optomechatronics expertise live at the fair, showcasing assemblies such as a cuvette carousel with spectrometric evaluation, a modular pipetting arm and a moving 3D hologram. In medical technology, the decisive factor is precisely this combination of high-precision mechanics and optical measurement technology, coupled with the trend towards integration of additional features in existing systems and an increasing level of automation. All of these require broad expertise and years of experience, which are both core competencies of WILD.

Moreover, the systems partner really captured the zeitgeist with a speech presented at the Suppliers Forum entitled “Implementing the MDR efficiently”. The joint presentation with its WIN partner IQC drew a lot of attention from the audience and was later met with great interest at the stand. This year, WILD once again shared the stand with its WIN network partners, thus offering current and prospective customers a broad platform for efficient meetings and targeted exchanges between experts. Together with velixX, INSION and CDE Communications Data Engineering, WILD demonstrated how projects can be advanced quickly and safely despite ever-increasing requirements.

Photonic, the lighting specialist within the WILD Group, did not miss the opportunity to showcase numerous new developments at MEDICA 2018. The company attracted particular interest among visitors with its lighting modules for ENT applications, the F6000-M, and its latest development, a multicolour LED light source, e.g. for applications in fluorescence microscopy and endoscopy. “Our intensive preparation absolutely paid off. We had already arranged several meetings with customers and potential new business partners beforehand, with whom we were able to go into further depth and talk about possible projects during the fair. We are very optimistic that these discussions will result in concrete projects”, says Photonics Sales Manager Annette Stampfer.  Especially with regard to Photonic’s strategic direction in the module business, the company was able to open several new doors at this year’s MEDICA.
