Grazathlon 2018: WILD hogs in their element

The “world’s toughest sightseeing tour” pushed 21 WILD athletes to their physical limits. Yet it was worth the effort: both muscles and team spirit came out strengthened.

When completely exhausted, dirt-covered runners, with their exertions written all over their faces fall into each other’s arms, it can only mean one thing: they’ve just crossed the finish line in the “Grazathlon – beat the city”. Among the 4,342 runners who completed the run were 21 ambitious WILD athletes who abandoned their personal comfort zone to join in the “world’s toughest sightseeing tour”. They competed in the event as the “WILD hogs” and their self-branded t-shirts bearing a “sponsored by WILD Group” logo were real eye-catchers. Cheered on by their personal fan club, the WILD hogs tackled a total of 18 obstacles with characteristic names like “Boulder XXL”, “Mud Jump”, “Double Trouble” or “Rock the Wall”, with a lot of enthusiasm and team spirit.

All in all, the Grazathlon was a perfectly organised run. A high-end sports event which WILD was taking part in for the second time. “The obstacles were very demanding but we coped with them brilliantly as a team”, Business Developer Wolfgang Stiegmaier proudly recalls. “I am still overwhelmed by the fact that we were able to motivate double as many employees to join this year. For me, this is the team event par excellence. Everyone helps each other!” says team leader Reinhold Kordesch. Nico Konstantinovics from Medical Technology Assembly injected the necessary fun by donning a banana costume for the run. We will definitely be seeing these exceptional athletes at the start line of the 2019 Grazathlon.
